'Fifty Shades Of Grey' Soundtrack (I)

As someone puts it, the music lover in me is thrilled to report that Christian Grey has a great taste in music. This is hard to imagine in a novel that may be only marginally better written than Snooki’s book, but the protagonist of the trilogy actually listens to “Spem In Alium,” by Thomas Tallis. Although many readers do not like the trilogy, it’s #1 on the Amazon and Barnes & Noble bestseller lists. It’s been debated on the “Today” Show. The New York Times article about it appeared on the front page. Vintage has just acquired the author’s three books.  And on the message boards its fans are already casting the inevitable movie: (Early favorites: Natalie Portman and Wentworth Miller.   So, before you could say "safe word," the movie rights were also snatched up by Universal Pictures and Focus Features.  
 As Jesse Kornbluth summarized The Fifty Shades of Grey book trilogy , the E L James novel, is  about a virginal 21-year-old college senior and the 27-year-old billionaire who tells her what to eat, what to wear, what kind of contraception to use and, of course, what kind of rough sex comes next. 
Fifty Shades of Grey sends 16th Century choral work to number 1 in singles chart.  Ms. E. L. James said she included much of the music because it was what she played when she needed to drown out the noise made by her two sons as she wrote in her living room in West London. 

As the books gained popularity, fans turned to the frequent mentions of music.  From Britney Spears' "Toxic" (which James writes would play as Christian and Anastasia "drive to chase the dawn") to Bruce Springsteen's "I'm On Fire" (which Anastasia blasts on her drive back to Washington State University) and Kings of Leon's "Sex of Fire" (do we really need to explain this one?) James' soundtrack is every bit as gratifying as Christian Grey himself.

INVISIBLE by Paul Auster

Paul Auster's fifteenth novel Invisible opens in New York City in the spring of 1967 when twenty-year-old Adam Walker, an aspiring poet and student at Columbia University, meets the enigmatic Frenchman Professor Rudolf Born and his silent and seductive girfriend, Margot. Before long, Walker finds himself caught in a perverse triangle that leads to a sudden, shocking act of violence that will alter the course of his life. 
Three different narrators tell the story of Invisible, a novel that travels in time from 1967 to 2007 and moves from Morningside Heights, to the Left Bank of Paris, to a remote island in the Caribbean. It is a book of youthful rage, unbridled sexual hunger, and a relentless quest for justice.  Invisible sounds exactly like someone talking to you about something astonishing that happened to him when he was young. It is impossible not to listen.
