SELECTIVIDAD: USE OF ENGLISH (I): Confusing words: adjectives ending -ly (palabras confusas: adjetivos que terminan en -ly)

En los exámenes de selectividad de inglés en la sección II USE OF ENGLISH  aparece un tipo de ejercicio  de vocabulario del siguiente tipo:
Which of these words is not an adverb? costly / fast/ hardly/ slowly
Aquí tienes una lista de palabras que aparentan ser adverbios (terminan en -ly), pero son adjetivos. Así que, watch out!!
  • It was a lively party and there were lots of very friendly people there.
  • He was really quite ugly and unlikely to succeed in the blind date competition. 
  •  It was a costly mistake and it meant I wouldn't have another chance until the autumn.
